Lady Cardinal, Being Very Cautious!

Not sure why these birds seem so cautious when they are at the feeder. But they are constantly keeping an eye open for intruders.

I think they know that they are vulnerable to being snatched by a hawk while they are distracted by eating and are out in the open.

Lovely shot of Mrs, it always surprises me too. Seems like they are scared someone else might be wanting the food too. The bigger birds always chase the little ones away from my feeder, so they are very wary.
