Went to my other pier tonight. Didn't get the usual color, but did get an interesting view of the sun as it was going down. There was enough clouds out there that it filtered out a lot of the light and was therefore able to get a an unblurred sun shot. Best on black if you have the time.
A beautiful image. It was odd here too. There was a horizontal slip of the sun that stayed on the horizon for a long time- it must have been a reflection onto a cloud and not actually the sun, which had already set. No residual color though.
