Seems like all I can find here lately are the Osprey's and Eagles. But guess that's better than nothing. Rick and Martin, if you notice any settings that I might change, definitely would appreciate any advice.
If it were mine, given that the ISO is that low with the good light, I'd increase shutter speed to 2000 and use f of 7.1. I assume you are using high speed continuous and tracking focus? I've been putting focus point on head with bif rather than eye since the eyes are so small and hard to get the point right there. Looks to me as if the camera focused on fronts of wings instead of the eyes being really sharp
@jgpittenger Thanks Jane, I'm using a Tamron 70-300 lens. Want to get a bigger lens, but just haven't figured out what I want. May need to step up the speed a little more. This one had the aperture set at 5.6. I do use the continuous focus, but seems like the tracking doesn't work that well for me, but I will try again. I try to keep the iso as low as I can, as with this camera, if I get above about 600, it starts getting really noisy. I'm enjoying this, so I'll keep practicing. Thanks for you input. Really appreciated.
I started with the same as yours, but then I moved on to the Nikon AF-S VR 70-300. That turned out to be a good idea because the focusing was much more accurate. I saw an increase in sharpness but it was only slight. The noise levels were the same.
I think that 300 F/4 that Jane was talking about would be hard to beat. Sharper AND cleaner images.
