This is the rear door to the Church in Uppingham. Considering its the only other town in the small county of Rutland I rarely visit it. But as Mrs B was having a hair cut I had a little wander round. The grave stone on the left had the following inscription "Here lies John Beaver that honest man which stood up for the Common of Uppingham Died November the 11 1682". John Beaver was Overseer to the Poor and to the Highways. He opposed attempts to encroach upon the people's common land by the neighbouring village of Lyddington.
