Meant to add that the turtle populations seems to have exploded this spring. Maybe the mild winter had something to do with it, though with one exception, of the roughly 100 turtles that I saw this afternoon, only one was an obvious juvenile.
Awesome detail and colour! Love it! Fav! I also had a multple turtle photo (not nearly so nicely detailed) and was surprised at the number of turtles I saw. And if there aren't many juvies now, it looks like there could be later!
Excellent capture and I love the reflections! FAV! I took a pic of turtles this weekend, but had to do it from too far away and they did not turn out well. Yours is fantastic!

And if there aren't many juvies now, it looks like there could be later! LOL, Lynn. Thanks all for the comments. Turtles in Maine? Oh, yes. These painteds seem to be the most common but this pond also has a number of snapping turtle including one ancient monster. Most I captured on one log today was about 17, but they were so strung out that these few made for a better shot.

Glad you liked it. Highlight for me last year was drifting up to one and actually being able to pick him up off the log. Usually they hit the water when I get within about 15 feet. Interesting that in my experience all but one will usually hit the water at about the same time while one brave soul hangs on well after the others have all bailed. I try to back off before any of them jump ship but the temptation to keep getting a little closer can be hard to resist.
@rob257 Thanks Rob. I know that I'm getting better since I stared 365. It really is a great way to improve. Upgrading my camera that was not working well might have helped too :)
