Afloat, In Thoughts of the Nest

Lately dad has been spending much of his time a good 1/4 mile distant from the nest. If history is any indicator, once the chick(s) hatches both adults will rarely be more than a short distance away.
Good capture! He sure has an intense look in his eye!

Isn't he a beauty ...love the pov!! Yes, you're so right .. I stumbled across the Mom and babes (mallards) today. And Dad was right there. They quickly got out of my range. Talk about protective ... wow.

They are wonderful to watch and I'm convinced that after several years of seeing the same crazy guy in the same blue kayak they have become exceptionally tolerant of my presence. Thanks for your kind comments.

Lovely capture. They really do trust you to let you get so close.

Some of the birds aren't that different from people;
Trust takes time, but it's worth the effort,
No?

Amazing colors. Must be very relaxing kayak and take pictures of the birds. Sounds like a great way to spent time.

A good way to spend time? Yes it is. One of the best I've found so far.
Still looking though!
