With no sign of the loons in the past 2 weeks I was convinced that (after losing one nest to a flood and 2 later chicks to snapping turtles?) they had left town for the season.
Imagine my surprise this morning when they both showed up. Spent a good 15 minutes within a "kayak's length" of one of them. Quite a thrill.

Glad you're enjoying the loons. I have to wonder why they're still here. Don't think they'd make a third attempt, but I have to admit, as long as they're still here, and still in "breeding plumage, I have to wonder.

Thanks, Myrna! I think they've really left town now, but I'm not sure. Shoulder injury will keep me off the water for a while. Glad I have the monarchs and robins to keep me busy!
