Not quite, Lyn. This is the one that never made it out. The clear plastic like shell that the butterfly (ref: 9/9) is hanging on to is what's usually left.
The brownish spotted coloring is what's left of the one catapillar that never made it.

Nice to hear from you all. For what it's worth, I'm certain that the earwig didn't come along until after the chrysallis had already died. It chose a poor place to attach itself too: Instead of hanging freely it was on the side of a metal chair frame which tended to compress it on one side, and may well have heated up on a hot day before I figured out what was going on.
