Tired of hitting his head against a wall?

Watched this red bellied woodpecker eating an orange for about 10 minutes. First time I'd seen them doing anything other than drilling in wood for insects.

I have heard of putting up orange slices for orioles...never thought of woodpeckers! Bet it tastes better than ants and grubs and wood!
