I'm taking this week to learn about tone mapping. I'm starting off with b&w images as it's a lot easier to deal with just luminosity without throwing colour channels into the mix.
Pretty interesting so far. I can see how much more flexibility there is compared to just adding contrast.
This picture has 4 control points on the curve in an 'S' shape with the main effect of compressing mid tones.
