We have been trying to get some hummingbird traffic at our feeder for several months, inspired by Vee @vskolnik and her amazing hummingbird shots. Tonight, one appeared and took a looong drink. Of course, I did not have my camera at the time, darn it. This memorializes the very exciting experience. :) I cropped it to show the portal through which our visitor had dinner.
Thanks to all who take time to visit and comment... it is very generous of you.

This sounds so like me Rosie, but I am glad you at least got to see it. Be patient, there is always another time even if it is next year. It is a great pov!
So funny! @jyokota and I decided this summer to take a photo of an empty feeder to capture the idea of all the hummingbirds that we couldn't catch on film!
Oh the every elusive bird, I know this only too well. I can't wait to see the photos when you get them. We don't have humming birds here, well, not that I know of lol they are so beautiful :-)
Lol. Hang in there. Once they finally discover your feeder they'll come back to it every year and you'll get more and more hummingbirds. They show up in the spring and stare accusingly at me if I haven't put the feeder out yet. Seriously.
What an elegant hummingbird feeder, and a great capture of it! As @Taffy mentions, we had planned to not only photograph an empty feeder but to intentionally photoshop some of Vee's @vskolnik spectacular hummingbirds all around it. As if we could take such beauties! At least we can enjoy looking at Vee's!
