It's Morpho (butterfly) March at the Butterfly House, so I ducked in over lunch. These rain forest butterflies usually live in the canopy layers of the forest. When their wings are closed, at rest, they are perfectly camouflaged. You can see the camouflage in the wings of the butterfly on the left (like eyes). You only see the bright flashes of blue when they open their wings. There were so many of them, fluttering around, but it was hard to capture one at rest (in focus). They are some of the largest butterflies in the world, with a wingspan of 5 to 8 inches. It is still cold here, so being inside this tropic environment was delightful.
Other than lunch, my days and evenings have been super-busy recently. Thanks for your visits and comments, as you have time to give. :)

love the colours of this one! I so have no idea about the names or the butterflies, I forgot to pick up a leaflet!! but that just means I have to go back!!
I can only imagine a butterfly with such an impressive wingspan. I've never seen one with my own eyes so thanks for sharing this picture. Beautiful blues this one's blessed with.
I have often tried to capture these at the butterfly house but as you say they are very difficult to capture. Such impressive butterflies, this is a super shot.
