This is a salmon crested cockatoo. His name really is "Louie." I had never seen one before so, of course, I had to try to do him justice. He was really cute. When he wanted to be held, he would wave his left leg out off the perch, in a hint for his handler to pick him up. Although he was quiet when I was there, apparently he can say some words, like "Goodbye." He likes red licorice. These fellows live up to between 60 to 80 years; Louie is in his early 30's.
Thanks for stopping by. Enjoy your holiday weekend!

This has such a wow factor, as I've never seen a portrait of a cockatoo. This one has such an interesting feathery head and a really alert expression. Hard to imagine a bird with that lifespan -- I had friends that had two of them, (this was almost 20 years ago) and even at the time, they knew that the bird could outlast them!
Hi Rosie. I just wanted to correct some information you read on another project. Lightroom does not apply and "default" processing on an image unless you explicitly tell it to do so on import.
Mine are not crested, but were fun nevertheless: http://365project.org/jyokota/365/2013-07-09
