Mark Twain's Boyhood Home by rosiekerr

Mark Twain's Boyhood Home

Samuel Clemens (aka "Mark Twain") spent his childhood in the white house with the green door on the right. You can see the sign on the right, pointing out "Tom Sawyer's Fence" (home of the infamous white-washing tale of literary fame). Located in Hannibal, Missouri (2 hours north of St. Louis). This location inspired "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" and "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer." The Mississippi River is to the right, about 3 blocks away. I didn't remove the telephone wires because, well, they are really there and this is meant to document a historical location. My sister and I used to call these "you were there" shots. :)

I had to go up for family reasons, but took a tour of the home and enjoyed the small town atmosphere. Lots of driving, today!

Anyway, thanks for your kind comments about my shots of the St. Louis Abbey over the last two days... I appreciate them. Thanks for taking time to stop by!
The structures really look great. Wonderful capture and thanks for sharing . Loved the books .

This is a really interesting shot, and the tour sounds wonderful too. I think the telephone lines are perfect in this composition, btw.

A really sweet house with its window boxes and low roof beside the stone home on the left!

Very interesting to see his home -- it's really well cared for, or looks that way in your photo.

A very modest and simple looking home. It must be quite interesting to do the tour.
