OK, so my kid needs headshots for school. I have taken them, paid others to take them, edited them and taken them some more. I have learned loads about retouching, skin tones, frequency separation, lighting and 18% grey for white balance (but it is still never quite right). Hence, my relative absence over the last few bit of time.
Honestly, both of us are pretty done with doing these.
This is better on black.

You have got a perfect picture but with all that retouching - is it real? I can make myself into a most beautiful model but have given up doing that - nobody believes me any more! Ah, woe is me!
