Bull Run by rosiekerr

Bull Run

Here is a "top of the (Matthews) hill" view of parts of the American Civil War battlefield at Manassas (near the creek of Bull Run).

Two civil war battles were fought on this land, about a year apart (summers of 1861 and 1862). The little brown stone building was used as a hospital for both battles.

Manassas is only about 25 or so miles from Washington DC. People drove out to "watch" the first battle here: https://www.smithsonianmag.com/smart-news/was-first-battle-bull-run-really-picnic-battle-180964084/

One year later, people had adjusted their expectations a bit more.

An extremely complex place, on many levels, but it was fascinating to view.

Great shot of a piece of history
