I could hear some squeaking over by the fence but wasn't sure where it was coming from. Mrs Robin then appeared and something flew past me into the undergrowth. I thought perhaps it was one of the parents and slowly edged forward to investigate but a bird didn't fly off. As I stood there looking, I suddenly noticed that there was a little baby bird looking at me and then as I clicked away, I realised that there was two. You can hardly see them as they are well camouflaged but I didn't want to frighten them and worry Mum and this is the best pic of the ones I have taken. Not very good but hopefully, I will get some better ones - perhaps seeing Mum feeding them. What a day to bring the babies out for the first time as it has been pouring with rain but as a friend of mine said, she probably brought them out because the ground being wet might encourage grubs up for them to eat.
@judithg Yes I hope the cats around here or the magpies don't get them. We've had crows hanging about as well and they have been driving the thrushes mad. The thrushes have been dive bombing them - they are such brave little birds
There was an almighty racket in next door's garden yesterday and it was due to a magpie hanging around - which seems to see off the cats... Poor birds but I think this wetter weather must be helping them especially ground feeders like blackbirds and thrushes. It's just too cold!
