I nearly fell in the lake to take this pic so I hope you all appreciate it! LOL It was a job to get a good pic because of all the shrubs, etc. obscuring my view and the side of the lake is a bit steep where I was standing. I hoped to get a better view when I walked along a parallel path but I think he had gone by the time I got there. I thought he was a lovely looking bird and I had seen a couple of herons flying about so I was pleased to see this one watching me
WOW I think this is superb and how well you did to get such a great photo AND not fall in the lake. I think that would have been a sacrifice too far for 365!
I saw this on the PP, and just had to stop by and say this is such a gorgeous shot. I have never seen a heron quite like this. AMAZING and, of course, FAV.
Rosie, normally I don't look at the PP anymore. Glad I did. Beautiful capture. I believe what you've captured is a Black-crowned Night Heron. The only reason I know this, is because I photographed the same bird 2 days ago. Was so excited. Also, I'm glad to hear you almost fell in. I've fallen into the water, stuck in the mud, fallen down hills in my little river world, just to get a photo. Shows the signs of a good photographer. Fav. And a follow. :)
