Tompion's cottage

This is the birthplace of Thomas Tompion a famous clockmaker who lived in Ickwell which is still a lovely English village. He was born in 1639 and died on 20 November 1713 and is buried in Westminster Abbey. I expect the people who live there now are used to others stopping by to take a pic as there is a plaque on the wall providing this information.
very beautiful collageof the cottage Rosie , i love old cottages they have a nice feeling about them fav

Lovely little place. It reminds me that my granddad had a plaque on his house reading 1901 and he didn't like it so he got my dad to help him remove it one Sunday afternoon. They were rather confused as cars kept pulling up and people were busy writing notes and staring at them. Towards the end of the process when cars were generally just driving slowly past somebody got out and asked how old the house was. It turned out that they were doing a treasure hunt and one of the clues was granddad's date plaque which was rapidly disappearing from view!

A wonderful collage Rosie, it's a long time since I've been to Ickwell. Now it's my turn to ask which programme you used to make your collage.

A nice shot of the cottage, and I do like the thatched roof with its pretty shaped ridging.

Nice montage of shots, Rosie. I like the different angles. It's great to see little pieces of history like this. I'm surprised that he doesn't merit a blue plaque - not much chance of that changing now, though.
