Well at least I think this is what this flutterby is! I've seen so many butterflies today as I went for a walk around the lakes, through Bulge Wood to walk in the shade as it's been so hot. I have been trying to help one of my clients who I've been visiting for the past 18mths and he has been looking after his wife with dementia. He is absolutely at the end of his tether as he is 88 years old and following his latest admission to hospital with exhaustion, she is finally in respite care. It is so hard for him to be parted from her but he absolutely needs the rest. I have arranged for the Good Neighbour Group to visit him each day as he is so lonely without her. I am also worried because he is so depressed and has been for some time. I have been liaising with their Social Worker who has phoned his doctor to ask them to reassess him but I have to say the GP doesn't seem to have much idea. He has agreed for me to find someone to rehome his birds in the avery as he is unable to look after them and I worry about his lovely dog too but someone is going to walk him over the weekend. The poor little dog is pining for his mistress and it's terribly sad. I am going to pop over and see him on Sunday because I'm so worried about him. If you care about people, you can't just switch off worrying about them. Why is life so cruel to lovely people when they become old and frail? It's just not fair. The walk today helped me to escape and listen to the birds and enjoy the lovely countryside where I live
So sorry to hear the plight of this aging couple. I hope they have someone who will take care of the dog and birds. It is good of you to intercede on their behalf.
