Fishing among the branches

This heron was sitting in a tree fishing but was not very successful. He didn't seem to mind the fact that I was only about 8ft away from him and he looked at me but then concentrated on what he was doing. I think he may be a young one although probably he recognises that I would never hurt him and only like to look at him and capture him with my camera. This was taken in Priory Country Park on my way to do the food shop. The light is getting very difficult in the afternoons at the moment as I always seem to be late leaving work.
Lovely profile shot of this beauty

Maybe...but none of the herons around here adopt that attitude...I could even say "I'm not going to hurt you, I just want a photo" and they would still be gone in a heartbeat!!
Great shot...beautiful details...jealous!!fav

What a great shot Rosie, aren't they lovely birds, as you know I like to take a lot of my shots straight on but this is the one bird that looks rediculous straight on and fabulous from the side!
