This was actually taken yesterday in Ampthill Park. The weather started off lovely this morning with the sun shining in my eyes all the way to Shefford where I went for a meeting with one of the Good Neighbour Groups. I'm really pleased because they started off very small and now have 15 volunteers and they are doing amazingly well. In their first two months they have done 14 jobs for people needing help which is amazing as some groups can go 6 months without doing a job for anyone until the word gets round. In fact they are quite unique as I haven't heard of any volunteers helping someone to drive an automatic car! The gentleman concerned had been having treatment following an accident and therefore couldn't drive a manual car and he hasn't driven for 9 months so was just a bit nervous. The volunteer went out with him a couple of times and now he feels confident to drive himself around and regain his independence. All down to the wonderful work of volunteers to help people in their community. Isn't it a marvellous thing and I feel proud that I was the one to instigate it and get it all up and running but I get paid to do that.
