Is worth two in the bush! This little female chaffinch banged against the kitchen window so we ran outside and I picked her up. At first she looked as though she had broken her wing because it was hanging down but I stroked her and talked gently to her and then put her down on one of our tubs on the patio. I then went and got my camera as by this time Steve had picked her up again. She just sat on his hand quite calmly while I took a few photos of her and then we put her back on the tub. We went back inside expecting her to fly off but she didn't. I think she was just in shock so I went outside and walked towards her and when I got to within 2 ft of her she flew off up into the tree. I was pleased to have been able to help her and find out that she was just winded and not badly hurt. My good deed for the day I think!
A friend once told me that when birds fly into your window, you should just make sure they're right-side-up and they'll recover if they're not too badly hurt. This shot is so adorable!
Great shot. We used to have a young male cardinal that flew into our sliding glass door everyday. Sometime really hard. He would see his reflection and try to attack it.
What a sweet little bird - that keeps happening to our hummingbirds - hear this thud against the large window and look out to see the little guy on the patio. Fortunately, all have recovered in time. Neat shot.
Great capture!
We get a lot of birds flying into our window here (Lester thinks is because you can see light right through the house from the outside so the birds mistake it for a potential flight path). They all seem to recover well, including the one that must have popped a blood vessel as it struck, poor thing!
