I went to peg some washing out this morning and I heard the green woodpecker but wasn't sure where he was. However, he flew to another part of the garden and shouted so I ran back into the kitchen to pick up my camera which I had brought down earlier (thank goodness). I guessed where he would fly up to as I have photographed him in this tree before and lo and behold, there he was! We don't see so many green woodpeckers round here and in fact I haven't see the great spotted one much either so I was pleased to see him. They have a very distinctive call which is completely different to their cousins.
I have had a busy day today as I took all the plants off the window sills and cleaned the windows, frames and sills which took me about 2 and a half hours. After lunch, I went out into the garden and collected up all the small branches and leaves where Steve had trimmed the laurel and holly bushes. I still managed to go out for a walk along Wood Lane and was upset to find that there has been some fly tipping up there. It's disgusting that people can't be bothered to take stuff to the tip! I regard Wood Lane as a little bit of heaven on earth and I hate the fact that people can dump rubbish that can be a hazard to wildlife.
Thank you for your kind comments and Fav's - it is always much appreciated.
