He needs his mummy by rosiekind

He needs his mummy

Steve phoned me up at work this morning to tell me that he had rescued 2 little baby doves who were on the ground near the main road. He has brought them into the garden and they are just sitting there. I was going to take them to the Bedfordshire Wildlife Rescue service but then discovered that it is the other end of the county and we are going out early to friends tonight as its Burns Night and they have invited us round for food and song! Steve is playing the guitar for them.

After Steve had gone out, I then thought I ought to take them but can't get hold of a small parrot cage to put them in because the one I want is hanging up at the back of the garage housing some of his classic cars but also full of junk! I thought it would be a chance to try out my new satnav. It looks as though we shall have to put them in the large cage that he has got out as we don't want them to get attacked by cats in the dark. I hoped they would eat some sunflower hearts as their parents like them but more importantly I would have liked the parents to come and lead them away to safety. Their tails are not fully developed at all so I'm not sure whether they can fly. I hope they survive the night so that I can take them to the Rescue Centre tomorrow.

Thank you for your kind comments about my portrait shot yesterday and for all your lovely comments. It makes my day!
Oh what a lovely little dove, I bet it wants it's mummy with a camera stuck in it's face. FAV

@ladymagpie We've put them both in a large parrots cage, given them some food and put them in the garage for the night as I don't want them being eaten by a cat. I shall take them to the rescue centre tomorrow if they survive - I really hope they do
