Flying high by rosiekind

Flying high

I can't walk far enough to go down Wood Lane so I thought I would drive down, park and look for some birds in the brambles nearby. As I had parked in the gateway to a field, it was sod's law that a farmer would come along with his tractor and want to get into the field! However, it wasn't time wasted talking to him before moving my car as he had been watching me photographing a red kite who was flying high across the fields. He told me that the kites had a nest in a copse near one of his fields and he gave me permission to go and photograph them after giving me directions. However, I was really on my way to the shops so I said that I would investigate another day. He also said that there are 9 cows in the field along the track and several of them are about to calve if I wanted to take some photos of them. I hope I can get some shots of them being born - wouldn't that be great!

In the meantime, here is one of the shots I took before I moved the car and I was just sorry that I hadn't bothered to take my 400mm lens but never mind, I am fairly happy just to have got some shots anyway.

Thanks for getting yesterday's woodpeckers on PP - it is always much appreciated.
Nice one!

Lovely bird in flight image Rosie, how fortuitous to be parked in the wrong place at the right time to meet this very friendly farmer, look forward to the results of your next visit to his fields:)

They are such graceful flyers, I love watching. Good luck with photographing the calves being born, that would be amazing!
