Last night at the opening of the Camera Club Exhibition, someone told me about a field where hares can be seen. As I've only ever taken one shot of a hare I was keen to see and photograph them. Well I went in search this morning as the sun was shining although the wind was cold and I drove along a single track road to the top in order to ask for directions at a farm there. I went into the Groundcare workshop where they repair lawn mowers and they kindly phoned the farmer. He came zooming up on his quad bike complete with dog in tow and he kindly showed me where to go. It was through a few fields complete with sheep and a wood. When I eventually got to the wild meadow field, I stood waiting as he said that they would appear in a few minutes but alas they didn't. However, it was not a wasted walk as this red kite came circling over me and at one point was so low I clipped his wings so had to get me lens in quickly. I think this is probably the best red kite photo I've ever taken so I was well pleased even if I didn't see the hares!
If you would like to hear "Free Bird by Lynyard Skynyard click the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D0W1v0kOELA. It goes perfectly with the way this red kite was soaring through the air.
Thanks for all your kind comments and Favs - it is always much appreciated.
Beautiful bird & fitting music Rosie. I can just picture you standing in that quiet cold field waiting for the hares. Must have been quite a thing to see this bird soaring in the sky.
