I had gone for a walk along the brook to see whether I could get any shots of my little blue friend - the kingfisher. I was gutted because a bird flew into a tree right in front of me but I thought it looked too big for a kingfisher until he flew off and I saw that distinctive flash of blue! Anyway, I wrote a poem:
The Elusive Bird
A flash of blue would suffice
I sit on the riverbank and wait
Wait to hear a whistle
As his wings silently propel him above the water
But alas nothing!
Despite being “dug in” a hole
A dip in the grass and weeds on the edge of his hunting ground
Camera primed in readiness
But despite the wait
No show of the elusive bird
The kingfisher
I wrote this last year after a failed attempt to see one but thought it was apt for today. Thank you for all your kind comments and Favs - it is very much appreciated.
I finally got a robin singing today - so glad I didn't upload it!! We seem to have been taking similar shots today!! Fav for this gorgeous bird singing his heart out!!
Wonderful picture! You can just "hear him." I smiled at your frustration in getting the kingfisher shot. I have had similar frustrations with getting a cedar waxwing picture this year. They tend to stay deep in the tree and brush.
