It wasn't very well publicised but a friend told me that the Flying Scotsman would be passing through Sandy on the way to King's Cross this afternoon so I thought I would take a trip down there to get some images. I was a bit disappointed that there wasn't much steam to be seen but apparently the diesel engine at the rear was supporting the engine because the weather had been so dry that they couldn't risk starting a fire at the side of the track so it wasn't going full throttle! This shot was taken before it got into the station as it came round the bend as this was probably the one with the most steam coming from this famous engine which cost £10 million to renovate. In it's hay day it could reach 100 mph but it was definitely not doing that as it passed through Sandy
I hope everyone is having a great weekend and thank you for your kind comments and Favs - it is always much appreciated.
@padlock Yes I read that so it was a bit hit and miss re time but worth waiting for. I got some shots with more of the engine and carriages but no steam which is why I posted this one
