He's eating the nuts in his box because he can't steal the food from the feeders now that they all have baffles on them.
Exciting new today, we have watched Mrs Blue Tit taking the shells off her babies as they are hatching. It seems that she now has her mate back as he has been in and out of the nest box feeding the babies too. I have been reading up about them and apparently male blue tits can be bigamous. He probably has had another lady or ladies somewhere else and they come back to their lady when they have brought up a family elsewhere! I had no idea that they were like this. Blue tits only have one brood a year and because a female is small, she only has 6 or 7 eggs instead of 11 - 13. She is a dear little bird and I hope she succeeds in bringing her children into the world so that I can feed them too.
Other news is that we have babies in a blackbird's nest in the ivy on the side of the house. Robbie is no longer feeding his little ones so presumably they are doing OK but he has still come for a bite to eat from my hand so I am pleased that he still comes to see me even if it isn't so often.
Thanks for all your kind comments and Favs and for getting yesterday's greenfinch and bullfinch on PP. It is always much appreciated.
