Dunnock

This fat little dunnock was sitting on the fence waiting to come and have a tuck in. At least I think that is what it is due to its size but it does look very similar to a fieldfare.
Yes, this is a dunnock :) Fieldfare's are a type of thrush, so are about the same size as a blackbird.

Dunnocks are prettier than I had imagined. We had some nesting on our allotment a few years back and were able to watch their progress by moving back a discarded window which was leaning against the hedge. It was quite exciting to watch them especially when we first saw them after they'd hatched and they were so thin ad straggly we thought they were dead!

@freyaphotos I posted a fieldfare yesterday in my 365 album so I cannot understand why I had any queries about this pic. I posted my pics very quickly tonight as I had been worried about our cockatoo as I think he had a stroke yesterday. Fortunately, he seems much better tonight.

Very beautiful bird and surroundings. Now I have to add Dunnock to my wish list of birds I want to see.
