The yellow rose of Texas

This is for all 365ers who live in Texas. We used to listen to a song on the radio when I was little with this title. I think it might have been a program called Listen with Uncle Mac or something like that. I don't remember the words but I can hear it in my head even now. This rose was taken in Roxton Chapel rose garden when Mum's ashes are scattered. The rose that we had planted in her memory only had one flower on it and that had died but this one was next to it and I thought it was a lovely colour. The rose we planted for Mum is called Peace and it was one of her dying wishes that we did this. I was hoping to send a pic to my brother who lives in France but missed the bloom as when I went 3 or 4 weeks ago it hadn't come out and then I was too late. Oh well, next year maybe
Yes I remember the song too! Something about ' 'they sparkle like the diamonds, they sparkle like the dew' Beautiful colour and composition. Yellow roses are my favourite.

Beautiful rose and capture. Here are the lyrics:
The Yellow Rose of Texas
Mitch Miller

There's a yellow rose in Texas that I am gonna see
Nobody else could miss her not half as much as me
She cried so when I left her it was like it broke her heart
And if I ever find her we never more will part

She's the sweetest little rose bud that Texas ever knew
Her eyes are bright as diamonds they sparkle like the dew
You may talk about your Clementine and sing of Rosa Lee
But the yellow rose of Texas is the only girl for me

Where the Rio Grand is flowing and the starry skies are bright
She walks along the river in the quiet summer night
I know that she remembers when we parted long ago
I promise to return and not to leave her so

She's the sweetest little rose bud that Texas ever knew
Her eyes are bright as diamonds they sparkle like the dew
You may talk about your Clementine and sing of Rosa Lee
But the yellow rose of Texas is the only girl for me

Now I'm gonna find her for my heart is full of woe
We'll do the things together we did so long ago
We'll play the banjo gaily she'll loves me like before
And the yellow rose of Texas shall be mine forever more

She's the sweetest little rose bud that Texas ever knew
Her eyes are bright as diamonds they sparkle like the dew
You may talk about your Clementine and sing of Rosa Lee
But the yellow rose of Texas is the only girl for me

I remember "sing along with Mitch Miller and the Gang" and can hear my Mom's voice singing this song. A wonderful memory, thank you.
