This blackbird looks as though he's going grey. Perhaps it's looking after the little ones that has turned his feathers grey! I know the feeling as I remember it well. We have a couple of young blackbirds visiting now so they must have nested close by and although the young ones know how to feed, they are quite happy for their parents to do it all for them. One of them stopped by to have a bath in the birdbath outside the kitchen window but I didn't have my camera to hand and I was just fascinated to watch the little one preening and picking carefully through her feathers.
