In the farmer's field by rosiekind

In the farmer's field

I saw this lone fieldfare in the farmer's field as I walked along. I don't seem to see flocks of fieldfare like I used to for some reason. Perhaps they are visiting other places
A lovely capture - he's almost camouflaged. I wonder if you've seen any of the waxwings which are supposed to be here in abundance this year?

Nice find, Rosie, apart from one day, I haven't seen many Fieldfares or Redwings together this winter, and I haven't managed to get close enough to get a decent shot of one. I did think with the really cold weather on the Continent recently it would be a lot easier to find them , as it has pushed the Waxwings this way. Still after a nice Waxwing shot as well. Fav.

When looking at this I couldn't help but notice the similarities between this and the American Robin. Sure enough, they (and the Redwings) are all Turtids. http://www.10000birds.com/what-is-a-robin
