Grebes at their nest

These grebes have a nest in the middle of one of the Finger Lakes. What a strange place to have it although perhaps it's not so daft as it seems. Predators such as foxes, etc. certainly won't be able to get the youngsters there. I think there are 3 or 4 eggs in the nest.

well spotted to see those eggs. I would think very sensible - except for any overhead predators.

Great capture. Does seem strange in some ways to have it out in the middle like that, but guess it does eliminate a lot of predators.
