This is not one of my better pics taken through the kitchen window but I just had to post it as this redwing was sitting in my garden. Last week I had a fieldfare and this week a redwing. I wonder what next week will bring?
I've just realised how excited you must have been to notice the redwing in your garden. I've been reading about the garden bird watch taking place this weekend and noticed that the redwing comes from Scandanavia and that we are more likely to see them at the moment because of the cold spell and their difficulty in finding food. I've hung my fat balls in the tree rather than on the bird table and they have attracted a bit more interest.
@busylady I'm glad you're having more success with the fat balls in the trees. I try to hang different feeders in different places so that shy birds don't have to mix with the starlings and noisy birds. All the finches seem to not mind feeding together and there are loads of them but I've now been to get some teasels and "planted" a big one in the front garden to try to get the goldfinches around the front as my feeders outside the lounge window seem to have been neglected a bit lately
