Kingfisher

This is the nearest I will come to a real kingfisher. This is a stuffed one that belonged to my Great Aunt. It is in a little box in my lounge. They flit about so quickly that I don't think I shall ever capture one in the wild so I thought I would post this one instead.

You'be probably been closer to one than you think! I've seen one from time to time when walking the dogs, but just a flash of vivid blue - absolutely no chance of photgaphing it! the colours are captured well in your image.

They are lovely birds. I have never managed to get a picture of one either. They are also much smaller than I used to think they were.

Amazing colour. I've never seen one in real life and went looking for one this morning during a brisk walk but I had a train to catch so couldn't wait for them to appear! @rosiekind I thought of you during the walk as there were plenty of singing robins - posting one next!
