According to the parking ticket, the warden saw my car parked between 15.39 and 15.44 in a parking space where there were NO double yellow lines right near the parking meter! He obviously couldn't read because my ticket didn't run out until 16.18 and I got back to the car at 4pm. I shall NOT pay the fine as I have done nothing wrong and I'm furious. I don't like Bedford at the best of times and they wonder why people don't want to go there and shop! On TV last night, they reported on the news that traffic wardens in Peterborough had been verbally and physically abused - is it any wonder?!!!!
I'll bet you were angry. As long as you have the paid ticket showing the time and the parking ticket showing the time the warden nabbed you, you should be OK.
So infuriating..........they fine us in MK for the most ridiculous reasons....most end up being revoked, but it is the effort you have to go to, to sort it.
@steampowered I took this pic of the ticket through the windscreen so that the warden can't say that I didn't display it. I wish with hindsight I had taken a pic of the car and where the double yellow lines were although I was about 4ft in front of where they ended!
Easy pickings! They are probably adopting a "scatter gun" approach hand them out randomly knowing lots of people will pay regardless. When it comes to trying to catch real criminals they can't be arsed.
@rosiekind I know that wardens have a rotten reputation but they could make life easier on themselves. If things come to a head with the fine, contact the local press - they love a good story like this!
Come to Witney - great shops, vibrant town and NO charge for parking! We still have parking wardens who are hard on overstayers as different areas have different time limits though.
