I have uploaded this tonight after seeing the feed started to think of those people who have died or those that have survived breast cancer. I am lucky to have survived but my best friend Jan died in 1991 and she was 40. We were both diagnosed at about the same time but sadly the hospital where she was treated did not act as swiftly as the hospital where I was treated as I had moved several miles away so went somewhere else. However, I was working at Addenbrookes at the time she was dying and although it broke my heart to visit her, I went to see her every day before and after my shift. She said that she could tell me things that she didn't want to tell her husband as she wanted to protect him from how she was feeling. It still makes me so sad to think of her in that hospital bed when she had lost her beautiful long hair and looked so gaunt. She will always be remembered as someone who was so vivacious and full of fun. RIP Jan
A beautiful shot, Rosie and so sorry to read your story about your friend. As a survivor, you know what it must feel like. My sister died of breast cancer in 1996. These pink hollyhocks are lovely. fav for their beauty and for remembrance too.
