I know it's a funny picture to post but I just had to tell you how wonderful these cameras have turned out to be. They are CCTV cameras installed on 25 October after our Neighbourhood Watch group raised the money to pay for them. A grant was obtained for £5,000 and the villagers including myself donated considerable sums of money to pay the rest of the £10,000 needed. Our village is a low crime rate area but we didn't want any crime here. Last Wednesday someone in the village was burgled between 10 and 5.15pm. Someone broke in through their patio doors, carried out a messy search before stealing some items including their car keys and their Mercedes car! The Police looked through the CCTV and the burglars (2 of them) are now in custody and will be over Christmas and will probably face a long stretch inside as they are known burglars. RESULT!
For those people who don't live in the UK, we have a system called Neighbourhood Watch whereby people look out for their neighbours (especially older and more vulnerable people) and report to the Police any suspicious people travelling around the village, e.g. someone driving round slowly as though they are looking for an unoccupied house to carry out opportunistic burglaries, thefts of cars and from cars, thefts of tools from gardens, sheds, etc. We have a very active group in our village and I am a street coordinator for the road I live in so that I can warn people of any scams so that people don't become victims of crime.
You should have titled your photo 'Well Captured' !
Interesting story to this Rosie & well done to your community for this incentive to restore law & order
Amazing what can be done but it is such a shame that we have to do this. We have cameras at home Mrs P wasn't keen but I am sure they do deter unwanted attention.
A great result Rosie. Mr Hermann our brown dachshund, is the neighbourhood watch sheriff, nothing happens in our patch without him alerting every one. He lies on the observation post ( sofa ) and can launch himself off the sofa, through the torpedo shoot ( pet door ) and to the front gate in about 5 seconds flat, hackles raised to meet the presumed threat.I think he keeps our neighbour hood pretty aware of strangers in the area :)
