This female blackbird certainly appreciated my efforts to defrost the bird bath so that she could have a drink. I had already seen a male come down when it was frozen so I spent a few minutes boiling the kettle to defrost them all but I suppose they will all be frozen again tomorrow. I also filled the feeders while I was out there because the birds need all the help they can get when the ground is frozen. They give me so much joy when I see them visiting that they are worth every penny to buy all different kinds of food that seems to suit the different species. 13 feeders take a bit of time to fill so I made sure I had plenty of layers on although my hands were very cold as the outside of the feeders had frost on them.
