This is the first time that I have seen one of the baby robins and I thought it was lovely that Robbie brought him to the washing line so that I could see him. I know that he has at least 2 babies but I'm not sure exactly how many. He seems to feed at least one over one side of the garden and one over the other so that they are not both at risk of predation. What a clever little bird he is taking the safety of his little ones so carefully.
Great shot, Rosie, I don't think mine are that far yet. To be honest, I am not quite sure what is going on. Last year, I knew there were two pairs using my feeders. One pair nesting in the garden, the other pair just outside, and they sort of tolerated each other.
This year, I have had three present for months, and with little flecks of white, and other slight differences, I can tell them apart.
Now one of them has vanished, but the other two are still around all day. I presume the missing one is on eggs, because otherwise one of the two left would be busy feeding the young. If they are the pair, then one of them should be on eggs all day. I need to keep watching.
the little one looks almost bigger than Robbie already. What a lovely spectacle and your timing to get this great shot with that wide open mouth is perfect.
