Red Admiral by rosiekind

Red Admiral

I didn't know which one to post of this red admiral as I had one shot with his wings flat out which was quite pretty too so I may post that one another day. Beautiful sunshine between the clouds which makes it tricky using manual settings on the camera but what I tend to do is leave the ISO set to about 500 and adjust the shutter speed as it's easier to reach than keep changing ISO. This is especially important when taking shots of wildlife with changing light as you don't want to take your eye off the bird and make a lot of movement. I've tried using program mode but the camera doesn't seem to agree with how I like my shots and they are either over or underexposed. I don't take too much notice of the histogram either as that seems to be off as well. Cameras although good are not quite like the human brain!

Beautiful shot, lovely composition. I tend to be lazy these days and leave it in Appature priority. You certainly got the settings right on this one.
