@buttercup thank you for asking, I just today got this update from his wife, here it is>>>We had our appointment yesterday in Rochester, all preliminary testing that needed to be done prior to the transplant came back in very good shape, and he’s been given the go ahead for the transplant.
Now, we are just waiting for a call back from the coordinator to tell us when to come back up so he can be admitted --- could be as early as next week – so, needless to say, he is in “nervous mode”…
I will be up with him for the first couple of days, but then back home. I’ve been advised numerous times by the doctor and the nurses that my time will be better spent with him at home during the recovery period than sitting bedside for up to 21 days…as he will have the best care 24/7 -- so -- I will stay for the first few days then back home and working on and off between trips back up – I have arranged for time off from work once he is home and recovering. Initial recovery is thirty days – this is the period when he will be most tired, unable to accept visitors, diet restrictions, etc, etc….
I will keep you all updated through my work email or his home yahoo account.
Thanks for continued support and phone calls and emails….
Talk with everyone soon + Happy Easter,
Love,
B.
I wend back to Dec 22 of your photos to see Vinnie. Wow, finally a transplant. I am praying for God to hold him close and for a full recovery. Tell his wife and sons that I am thinking of them through this very amazing journey. I am praying for all of them everyday. Thanks so much for the update, Richard.
Isnt it amazing how these little ones survive.. someone is holding them close thats for sure... My friend had a premie that was 1pound 11ounces, her fathers ring slipped right up to her armpit with room.. she needed doll clothing because even the premie clothing was too big. she is now 20 yrs old and thriving....
