Upstairs, downstairs

This is one of the staircases at Blickling Hall, a Jacobean mansion in Norfolk. You can tell the lower floors were used exclusively by servants; after you climb a couple of plain looking flights of stairs, you find the higher floors are covered in thick red carpet.
I've just finished reading a book on Mary Boleyn (sister to Anne), and Blickling Hall features prominently. Looks like an interesting place.
