Pleached hornbeams by rumpelstiltskin

Pleached hornbeams

This is a shot of the formal gardens at Kew Palace. The hornbeam trees have been pleached, which involves training and pruning them so that the branches will grow into a box shape. I hope to visit again in the summer when the palace is open, and see how the trees look with a full canopy.
An interesting subject Lynn, I hope you post another when it is in full leaf.
