Writ in Water is an architectural artwork in Runnymede, near the site where Magna Carta was signed by King John. Created by Mark Wallinger in 2018, it looks like a round concrete bunker from the outside. On entering, it feels like a calming space, where you can sit and look at the water and open sky. The inscription around the pool of water is Clause 39 of Magna Carta, but written in reversed lettering so that you have to read it in the reflection of the water.

This is a great image and fascinating information. I am ashamed to say that, though I regularly travel the M25, I have never been to Runnymede. Having seen this I am now going to correct that and drop in on my way to the West Country at the end of the month. Thanks for stirring me up!
@judithdeacon@humphreyhippo thank you - Runnymede is absolutely worth visiting. There is another art installation (The Jurors) and further memorials to Magna Carta and President Kennedy. If you have time, I would also recommend the Allied Air Force memorial which is a short drive away. I'll be posting more photos over the next few days, so you can see more of the places to visit, but details are on the National Trust website: https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/features/memorials-at-runnymede
