The Library at Wimpole Hall

Wimpole Hall is in Cambridgeshire and the original building dates from 1640. The Earls of Oxford's collection of illuminated manuscripts was sold to the nation in 1753, and became a foundational collection of the British Library. Subsequent owners, the Earls of Hardwicke, amassed a collection of around 6000 books, to create one of the National Trust's most significant libraries.
Beautiful place. I love old libraries.

English history is so interesting and goes back so far; this image really shows the stately, formal and impressive feel of the room
