You don't very often get a chance to see a Spitfire in flight, so I thought this might be of interest to see. It's a shot taken off the tv from a drama-documentary by the BBC called "First Light" The story of Geoffrey Wellum, who the age of just 18, was one of the youngest spitfire pilots to go into combat in the Battle of Britain. It was quite a moving story, at 20, he suffered a nervous breakdown through the numerous sorties that he had to go through, having witnessed the loss of close friends on a daily basis. He spent 18 relentless months on the frontline until being discharged. He had basically done more than was required, 12 months was usually the limit. The average lifespan of a new pilot at the time was around 3 weeks or less. It was an interesting insight into the lives of the young spitfire pilots, the mental toll taken upon them, and the ways they attempted to adjust to that pressure.
lol - I thought you used some retro processing on an actual plane you shot. Good thing I read the caption before commenting. 18 months on the front line - unimagineable!
