'ZULUS' were built in very large numbers, their speed and excellent seakeeping qualities making them ideal for work in the North Sea. They were built in many different sizes, some up to 60ft in length.

I bought this herring drifter (based upon the 'Zulu', circa 1880) at the local art gallery around ten years ago and it's always given me pleasure to look at it. It didn't even cost very much, I just loved the simplicity and elegance of it, still do. It was made by a very good Scottish model maker and painter, Edward Smith. He has a website if you're curious in seeing some of his other models of ships and boats.

I love the look of this boat because it is very smooth wood ! The feel of wood is very important to me as I hate anything rough on my hands! I am drawn to anything like this & it's really beautiful, I would have bought it too!

Matt, you are always coming up with such beautiful concepts for a photo. Is this the one from the bedroom sill?

Great replica of the ship. It's simplicity on the wood table top completes the look.
